Rajon Rondo has officially decided to retire from the NBA after a championship-winning career in which he played 16 incredible seasons.

Overall, Rondo was a point guard who knew how to push the buttons of his teammates. As a member of the Boston Celtics, he got into arguments and even fights with the coaching staff and other stars. However, it was his tenacity and his drive to succeed that helped the 2008 Celtics team win an NBA Championship. In 2020, as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, Rondo continued his ascension as he won a title in the Orlando bubble.

According to Basketball Reference, the last few years weren't fantastic for Rondo. Rondo played his last season in 2022 where he split his time between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rondo finished his career with 9.8 points per game and 7.9 assists per game. While these numbers don't jump off the page, it was Rondo's intangibles that made his teams better.

Rondo announced his decision to retire from the NBA while on the All The Smoke podcast. This is a podcast hosted by retired NBA stars Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes. For Rondo, this all had to do with his family.

" I now prefer to spend time with my children. I earned enough, now I take care of them."
