Dallas Mavericks' standout player, Luka Doncic, is close to clinching the NBA's biggest-ever contract. ESPN reporter Bobby Marks reveals that next summer, Doncic, the Slovenian basketball sensation, could sign a historic five-year deal worth $346 million. This remarkable opportunity arises in the summer of 2025, marking his sixth NBA season.

Doncic has met the required 65-game threshold this season, making him eligible for MVP and All-NBA accolades. Furthermore, upon receiving All-NBA recognition this offseason, he will qualify for the super-max contract. This trajectory puts Doncic on course to become the first NBA player to earn a salary exceeding $70 million, with his current earnings already surpassing $40 million annually.

At 25, he's showcasing the pinnacle of his basketball prowess, boasting career-best averages of 34.0 points, 9.1 rebounds, 9.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, leading the league. Doncic's shooting percentages are equally impressive: 48.9% from the field, 38.0% from beyond the arc, and 78.2% from the free-throw line. The Mavericks (45-29) have triumphed in 11 of their last 12 matches, elevating them to the fifth seed in the Western Conference standings with a 45-29 record.

In August 2021, the Mavericks inked a five-year, $215 million extension with Doncic. Since his NBA debut in 2018, he's solidified his status as one of the league's premier talents. A five-time All-Star, Doncic boasts career averages of 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists, ranking third all-time in points per game and ninth in triple-doubles.

The 2018-19 Rookie of the Year, Doncic is currently posting remarkable numbers this season: 34.0 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 9.8 assists, with shooting percentages of 48.9% from the field, 38.0% from beyond the arc, and 78.2% from the free-throw line, placing him in MVP discussions. At 25, he leads the NBA in points and points per game, ranks 17th in rebounds and 15th in rebounds per game, and is third in assists and second in assists per game.

With a record of 45-29, the Mavericks currently hold the fifth spot in the Western Conference standings. Since adding PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford to their roster, they've displayed elite performance on both offense and defense.
