Golden State Warriors' head coach Steve Kerr, renowned for his pivotal role in four franchise championships, has reached an agreement on a lucrative two-year, $35 million contract extension, disclosed agents Rick Smith and Dan Eveloff of Priority Sports to ESPN on Friday.
Kerr's original contract was slated to conclude at the season's end, and this extension, valued at $17.5 million per season, extends his tenure through the 2025-26 season.
After months of negotiations between Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Kerr's representatives at Priority Sports, an agreement has been reached, ensuring Kerr remains with the team. Owner Joe Lacob has prioritized keeping Kerr under Dunleavy Jr.'s leadership. Kerr, at 58, has become a key figure in the Warriors' success, with four titles and six NBA Finals appearances.
