Major announcement for Caitlin Clark
Announcing her decision on Thursday, Caitlin Clark, the star player for the Iowa Hawkeyes, revealed her intention to enter the 2024 WNBA draft, signaling the conclusion of her collegiate career.
This announcement follows her remarkable achievement of surpassing Lynette Woodard as the all-time leading scorer in women's Division I college basketball, achieved just a day earlier. It's worth noting that Woodard's previous record of 3,649 points is not recognized by the NCAA due to its governance absence during her playing era."It is impossible to fully express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me during my time at Iowa — my teammates, who made the last four years the best; my coaches, trainers and staff who always let me be me; Hawkeye fans who filled Carver every night; and everyone who came out to support us across the country, especially the young kids" -Caitlin Clark.
Many anticipate Clark to be the top pick in the upcoming draft scheduled for April 15 in New York City. If these forecasts hold true, Clark will embark on her professional journey in Indianapolis, given that the Indiana Fever possess the first pick in the WNBA draft for the second consecutive season.
