Devin Booker racks up 52 points, leading the Phoenix Suns to victory

On Monday, Devin Booker's 52-point performance fueled the Phoenix Suns to a crucial 124-111 win against the New Orleans Pelicans. This victory brings Phoenix within one game of the Pelicans in the Western Conference standings, vying for the final automatic playoff berth to evade the Play-In Tournament.

Booker, shooting an impressive 67.9% from the field with 8-of-16 from three-point range, notched nine assists. All Suns starters hit double figures, with center Jusuf Nurkić posting 19 points and 19 rebounds, while Kevin Durant added 20 points and seven rebounds. Remarkably, this marked Booker's third consecutive game scoring over 50 points against the Pelicans, a feat not achieved since Wilt Chamberlain, as per ESPN stats.


The Suns held a commanding 27-point lead in the third quarter, yet the Pelicans rallied, narrowing the gap to just seven points in the fourth quarter, setting the stage for a tense finale. Zion Williamson led New Orleans with 30 points and five assists, supported by Trey Murphy III contributing 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.


Nevertheless, their efforts weren't sufficient to prevent Booker and the Suns from departing New Orleans with a pivotal win. Durant expressed that witnessing Booker, who previously scored 52 points against the Pelicans in January, felt like experiencing déjà vu.
