Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is battling a quad injury, sustained during a game against the Utah Jazz a week ago. In the last five games, Gilgeous-Alexander has displayed signs of being off his usual form. Whether seen in his statistics or his noticeable discomfort on the court, concerns linger about the Thunder's star player. Head coach Mark Daigneault addressed his condition following Tuesday's game against New Orleans.

"Yeah, little banged up in my quad. Happened in the Utah game, Gilgeous-Alexander said about the injury when asked about it after the Thunder's victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday. He's banged up, for sure. He's not 100%. We're monitoring it, but he's certainly not a hundred percent. I'll let him speak on it," Daigneault said about Gilgeous-Alexander.

The Oklahoma City Thunder achieved a significant road victory against the Pelicans in New Orleans on Tuesday, bringing their record to 50-21. This marks the eighth 50-win season for Oklahoma City, tying the NBA record over the past 15 seasons.

Later, the Thunder coach clarified that the injury hadn't reached a point where Gilgeous-Alexander couldn't play; he was on the court tonight. With Oklahoma City contending for the top seed in the Western Conference, it's crucial to monitor whether Gilgeous-Alexander sits out any games to allow his quad to heal.

A notable factor contributing to the Thunder's impressive back-to-back seasons of substantial wins is the emergence of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Last season, Gilgeous-Alexander earned his first All-Star selection and was named to the All-NBA First Team. This season, he elevated his game even further by becoming an All-Star starter and being in contention for the Most Valuable Player Award, at the very least considered a top contender.
