Memphis Grizzlies' Ja Morant and agent Jim Tanner are parting ways
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Ja Morant is ending his partnership with agent Jim Tanner of Tandem Sports + Entertainment. Tanner has been representing Morant since his departure from Murray State, where he was drafted as the No. 2 overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Morant has risen to prominence as one of the NBA's leading stars over the last five seasons, with his agency playing a role in organizing numerous community events. In the summer of 2022, Morant contributed to the refurbishment of 13 courts at Memphis parks.
Later in that summer, Morant inked a five-year contract extension with the Grizzlies valued at $197 million. There was potential for Morant's maximum contract to increase by up to $39 million following the 2023 season, contingent on him making an All-NBA team, which he did not.

Morant's absence from the All-NBA team was partly due to a nine-game suspension stemming from an incident where he brandished a gun during an Instagram Live video at a nightclub in the Denver area. Subsequently, another similar video emerged two months later in May 2023, while he was in a car, resulting in a 25-game suspension at the onset of the 2023-24 season.
Currently, Morant is sidelined for the season due to a labral tear in his left shoulder.
