It Is Confirmed for Ben Simmons
The Brooklyn Nets have revealed that Ben Simmons will be sidelined for the rest of the regular season due to a lower back impingement. The team stated that Simmons and his representatives will collaborate with Brooklyn's medical staff to determine the most effective treatment plan for his long-term well-being.
Simmons has participated in just 15 games this season. In the previous season, he played 42 games for the Nets. Prior to that, Simmons missed the entire season while holding out with the Philadelphia 76ers before rehabbing with Brooklyn.Simmons averaged 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists, showcasing his rebounding prowess and ability to set up perimeter shooters. However, he rarely attempted shots outside the paint and struggled at the free-throw line, going 6-for-15 across 15 games this season. At 27, he holds a $40.3 million expiring contract for the 2024-25 season.
Drafted as the number one pick in 2016, Simmons was a three-time All-Star and two-time All-Defensive Team member during his tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers. Following a disappointing loss in the 2021 playoffs, he requested a trade and was eventually acquired by the Brooklyn Nets for James Harden. However, Simmons missed significant playing time due to back issues, appearing in just 57 out of 190 possible games since joining the Nets.
