The NBA is conducting an investigation into Jontay Porter, the forward for the Toronto Raptors.
According to multiple sources speaking to ESPN on Monday, the NBA is currently investigating Jontay Porter, the forward for the Toronto Raptors, due to several instances of betting irregularities in recent months. The focus of the investigation revolves around prop bets associated with Porter during games on January 26 and March 20, as indicated by multiple sources. Requests for comments from the NBA went unanswered at the time of reporting.
During the game against the LA Clippers on January 26, there was notable betting activity favoring the under for Porter's props, which were set at approximately 5.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists for the night. Additionally, there was an over/under set for Porter's made 3-pointers at 0.5.
Porter played only four minutes that night before exiting due to what the Raptors cited as a re-aggravation of an eye injury sustained four days earlier. He did not contribute any points, managed three rebounds and one assist, and didn't attempt a 3-pointer, resulting in the under hitting on all prop bets.

Subsequently, on March 20, in a game against the Phoenix Suns, Porter played just three minutes before departing due to reported illness and did not return to the game. He remained scoreless, missed one shot, and secured two rebounds.
Sportsbooks had set his over/unders at approximately 7.5 points and 5.5 rebounds for that game.
The day after, DraftKings SportsBooks informed its users that Porter's prop bets were the top earners from NBA action that night.
Porter, the sibling of Denver Nuggets standout Michael Porter Jr., is currently under a two-way contract with the Raptors, earning $415,000 for this season.
He was absent from the Raptors' game against the Washington Wizards on Saturday due to personal reasons, as confirmed by the team. Furthermore, he is listed as unavailable for Monday's game against the Brooklyn Nets, again citing personal reasons.
It's worth noting that NBA players, along with all league personnel, are strictly prohibited from betting on any league events, including prop bets. Violations of this policy could result in fines, suspensions, contract terminations, or other punitive measures.
The NBA actively monitors sports betting through dedicated team personnel and a team of data scientists, collaborating with third-party integrity monitors to address anomalies and integrity concerns.
Porter made his NBA debut in 2021, featuring in 11 games with the Memphis Grizzlies. Previously, during his college career at the University of Missouri, he suffered multiple ACL and MCL injuries. Despite going undrafted and not playing in the NBA for the past two seasons, he signed with the Raptors in December.
In his 26 appearances this season, Porter has averaged 4.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 14 minutes per game.
