Suns forward Kevin Durant moved past Carmelo Anthony for 9th place on the all-time scoring list with a fourth-quarter free throw in Houston. Durant concluded the game with 28 points (10-22 FGs, 1-7 3PM), bringing his career total to 28,296 points. Despite a Phoenix comeback effort, they fell short in Friday's 114-110 loss to the Rockets.
With Shaquille O'Neal's 28,596 points as the next milestone, Durant, averaging 28.1 ppg in his 16th year since being drafted second overall in 2007, is expected to surpass O'Neal in approximately 11 games, likely in mid-to-late March. Throughout his career spanning 1,036 games, Durant maintains averages of 27.3 ppg, shooting 38.% from 3-point range and 50.1% overall.
