MVP Favorite Nikola Jokic has made it known he is in disagreement with NBA Policy of a mandatory 65 games played in order to be considered for the league MVP.
"We saw what happened with Joel," Jokic said. "I just don't like it, how it forces players to play even if they're injured if they want to achieve something."
Joker is of course referring to what happened to NBA Phenom Joel Embiid earlier this year. Embiid had suffered a torn meniscus. He forced himself to play injured presumably for two reasons. The team received a fine for him sitting out against the Denver Nuggets, and for his chase of a second consecutive MVP trophy. Embiid was heavy favorite before his injury, dominating in every performance he was in.
Other star players around the league like Lebron James and Draymond Green have called out this policy as well.
Will this be enough for the NBA to make a change? Only time will tell, but it is a universally hated rule around the NBA.
