Cavaliers All-Star Advocates for Retiring Kyrie's Jersey in Cleveland
Cavaliers' superstar Donovan Mitchell insists the franchise should "definitely" retire Kyrie Irving's jersey, citing Irving's pivotal role in the team's 2016 NBA championship.
When a star player departs from a team, discussions about retiring their jersey can often be sensitive. However, Donovan Mitchell argues that Kyrie Irving's impact on the Cleveland Cavaliers warrants such recognition, especially considering his pivotal role in leading the franchise to its sole championship victory.Mitchell stated following Tuesday's shootaround.
«He should have his jersey retired for sure, Being able to do what he did at the highest level, year after year, to go from not winning to being able to do that and have that impact I think is something that was truly remarkable. Obviously, what he has done in the playoffs in his career and in Cleveland, where he brought the city a championship, I feel like him, K-Love [Kevin Love], and Bron [LeBron James] should all have their jerseys retired. I think he should definitely have it retired."
When discussing Irving's playing style, Mitchell emphasized his unpredictability and ability to navigate the court. He admires how Irving creates opportunities based on the defense's reactions, describing it as "very free-flowing, creative, and artistic."
