The Pelicans are Afraid of Losing Zion

When the New Orleans Pelicans first drafted Zion Williamson, he was seen as a powerful, large, important future for the team. In many ways, he was like Anthony Davis 2.0.

Now after a few lackluster seasons and some rumors of Zion being unhappy, the Pels could lose him. Again, he's like Anthony Davis 2.0.

That's exactly how he was described by NBA insider Zach Lowe on The Woj & Lowe Show.

«They realized they had a transcendent talent, and just rushed to get veterans around him, and the team just wasn't good enough.»

Apparently, New Orleans is very afraid that Zion is growing increasingly unhappy with the success of the Pelicans. He will be a free agent in 2023, which means New Orleans doesn't have a whole lot of time to make their superstar pleased. They are trying their hardest, with their attempts to get a coach Williamson likes, trade for more all-star players, and create a team Zion can rely on. But will it be enough?

There is a good chance that if the next couple seasons don't go incredibly well for the Pelicans, they will lose their biggest talent - again. Any team would be lucky to have Zion Williamson. He knows that and if he doesn't get what he wants in New Orleans - and soon - he will be gone in a heartbeat.
