Team USA Recruits Son of NBA Legend
With Team USA trying to revamp their international roster and recruit the top stars from the country, such as the recently committed Joel Embiid and Jayson Tatum, it seems the United States Basketball Junior team is following suit by acquiring the talents of highly rated prospect Kiyan Anthony.
Kiyan is the son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, who spent 19 seasons in the NBA. It looks like he may be following in his father's footsteps as he is ranked 52nd in the current ESPN rankings for the 2025 NBA draft class. While he is currently undeclared, Syracuse has sent an offer to Kiyan. This offer is significant because it is the same college where his father won a National championship in 2003. While he is only 16 and may choose a different path, the Syracuse and Team USA opportunities present a parallel journey to the one Carmelo followed many years ago. Melo has also commented on the similarities, describing it as a "Full Circle."

Carmelo Anthony's Team USA Career
Carmelo Anthony is one of the best basketball players to never win an NBA Championship, despite his 19 seasons and an impressive 10 All-Star appearances, as well as 6 All-NBA team honors. He did make up for this with his international career, however, where he represented the United States on several occasions and won 6 international medals, including Gold at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympic games, as well as one in the 2007 Americas Championship.
On top of his team success, Carmelo attained a number of individual accolades for the United States, winning USA Male Athlete of the Year 3 times, leading Team USA all-time in medals won, and setting a US scoring record with 35 points against Italy in the 2006 FIBA World Championship.
