Report : Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: out for Sunday's game
Mitchell Robinson has been officially ruled out for Sunday's Game 4 against the 76ers due to an ankle sprain, as reported by Derek Bodner of AllPHLY.com. Robinson injured his left ankle, which had previously undergone surgery, during the Knicks' Game 3 loss on Thursday. Although he was initially listed as questionable after missing practice on Saturday, hopes were briefly raised when ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski noted Robinson was attempting to warm up with intentions to play. However, he did not receive clearance to participate in the game.
In Robinson's absence, the Knicks are likely to lean on Precious Achiuwa as the primary backup for Isaiah Hartenstein. Jericho Sims could also see his first postseason action, expanding the Knicks' rotation options. The situation around Robinson has been a point of contention and concern; he has been dealing with this injury for several months, leading to speculation about his readiness for each game. The controversy heightened when a foul by Joel Embiid shortly before Robinson's early exit in Game 3 became a focal point of the series discussions. Post-game, Robinson was seen wearing a protective boot when he left the Wells Fargo Center, casting further doubt on his ability to play in Game 4.
Both teams continued their preparations on Saturday, with Joel Embiid participating in the 76ers' practice while remaining on the injury report. Robinson, on the other hand, was present at the Knicks' session but did not participate, and his status was not confirmed until later. The ongoing uncertainty around his condition and participation has been a critical subplot of this playoff series.
