After two seasons at UConn, Donovan Clingan, a 7-foot-2 center, declares for the NBA draft following the Huskies' second consecutive national title win, as announced on Friday.

''It will be very hard for me to leave my brothers after all the success these past two years,» Clingan wrote. «But the time is NOW!!''

After overcoming early-season challenges, Clingan, aged 20, showcased his peak performance in March and April. Utilizing his remarkable 7-foot-7 wingspan and impeccable timing, he emerged as a prolific shot-blocker, averaging 2.5 blocks per game to rank eighth nationally.

Moreover, Clingan played a pivotal role in leading the nation's top-ranked offense. Operating in various positions on the court, he was instrumental in UConn's half-court strategies, setting screens, orchestrating dribble handoffs, and demonstrating finesse around the basket with his ambidextrous finishes and refined footwork.

During the 2024 tournament, Clingan elevated his game, averaging 15.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game, surpassing his regular-season averages. Notably, he recorded a career-high eight blocks in a second-round win against Northwestern, tallying 19 blocks overall in the NCAA tournament, the highest since 2016.

Impressively, Clingan joined an elite group of Division I players this season, alongside Purdue's Zach Edey, as one of the two individuals to achieve 400 points, 80 blocks, and 50 assists, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
