Projected as one of the top three picks in the 2024 NBA Draft, French basketball talent Alex Sarr announced his entry into the draft this Friday. At 7-foot-1, Sarr, who turns 19 this month, showcased his skills in the Australian National Basketball League this past season. Playing for the Perth Wildcats, he averaged 9.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game, with a 30 percent three-point shooting rate, in 17 minutes of play.

"I had a great year playing professional basketball in the NBL," Sarr told ESPN. "There was a lot of growth in my game and as a person. I'm ready for the next step, so it was obvious for me to declare for the draft. I'm grateful for the year I spent in the NBL with the Perth Wildcats."

Sarr made a statement to NBA scouts about his potential as a top draft pick during a notable two-game series against G League Ignite in Las Vegas last September. He averaged 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 6.0 blocks per game, showcasing a mix of impressive three-pointers and electrifying dunks.

Sarr stands out as one of the most physically gifted prospects in his class, boasting a towering height of 7-foot-1, accompanied by an impressive 7-foot-4˝ wingspan and remarkable athleticism. He exhibits fluid movement across the court, displaying quickness in his vertical leap both as a finisher and a rim protector. With his versatility, Sarr has the potential to become one of the standout defenders in this draft class, capable of guarding smaller players on the perimeter. Moreover, he adds value to his game by extending his range beyond the arc, as evidenced by his conversion of 18 three-pointers in 27 games this season.

Sarr's journey to the NBA draft has been unconventional, beginning when he left his native France at the age of 14 to join European powerhouse Real Madrid in Spain, where he spent two seasons honing his skills. Subsequently, he ventured to Overtime Elite in Atlanta for another two years, a move that stirred controversy at the time. This past season, he played for Perth in Western Australia as part of the NBL's Next Stars program, aiming to surpass LaMelo Ball's achievement as the highest-drafted player from that league, who was selected third overall in 2020.

Sarr is currently in Santa Barbara, California, dedicating himself to rigorous training sessions ahead of the upcoming NBA draft. Scheduled across two days, on June 26th and 27th, the draft will take place in New York City. The first round is set to occur at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, with the second round following the next day at ESPN's studio in lower Manhattan.
