Victor Wembanyama is easily one of the best rookies the NBA has ever seen. Every single night, it feels like the San Antonio Spurs star is doing something otherworldly. For instance, he dropped 40 points and 20 rebounds against the New York Knicks on Friday night.
The Spurs won against the Knicks in a match that ultimately went to overtime. It was a huge battle between Wemby and Jalen Brunson. Brunson finished the game with 61 points, and fans could not believe the kind of night he had. However, with Wembanyama getting the win, it was the rookie who had the last laugh. To make matters worse, the rookie threw the game ball into the crowd.Fans speculated that Brunson wanted the ball, which made Wembanyama's gesture seem disrespectful. Others simply saw it as a competitive move that showcased how happy Wembanyama was about the win. Unfortunately for the Spurs star, it was against the NBA's strict rules about throwing things into the stands. As a result, the young star was hit with a fine.

The fine was worth $25,000, which is a standard penalty as far as the NBA is concerned. Considering just how much Wembanyama makes, we're sure he will be able to afford it. As for Brunson, he lost the game, so he probably doesn't care about the ball anyway.
This incident will simply be seen as a footnote in Wemby's season. He is averaging 21 points per game and 10.5 rebounds. Consequently, the oddsmakers have him as the favorite to take home Rookie of the Year honors.
