Despite the San Antonio Spurs potentially residing among the lower ranks in the Western Conference this season, fans have grounds for optimism. The emergence of Victor Wembanyama, a rookie for the Spurs, has generated considerable excitement and potential reminiscent of LeBron James' rookie year. Wembanyama has impressively lived up to the hype, positioning himself as the clear frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year Award.

Notably, Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich recently drew comparisons between Wembanyama and the legendary Tim Duncan, according to Tom Orsborn of The San Antonio Express-News.

"He will make a step-back three and he won't act like it is the first step-back three that has ever been made, He has just got more or less the Tim Duncan sort of attitude on things. That's just who he is."

During this season, Wembanyama has maintained an average of 20.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 3.4 blocked shots per game. His shooting percentages stand at 46.8% from the field, 33.4% from beyond the arc, and 80.3% from the free-throw line. Furthermore, the Spurs are poised to contend for the top overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
