Bam Adebayo Comments on Struggles with New Role

Bam Adebayo has had an up and down year this year. He was voted to the All-Star game, his third, and is tirelessly trying to keep his Miami Heat in the playoff race in a tight Eastern Conference. Jimmy Butler is the superstar on this team, however, is sometimes hurt and really comes alive during playoff time. Adebayo is the force that helps drive the Heat. As made known by him being names team captain this year. A role that he has admitted made him struggle this year.

«You've got to understand how to translate messages to everybody because everybody is different and everybody has their own stuff going on,» Adebayo said. «I got my own stuff going on in my mind, how I want to play and how I want to affect the game. And 14 other guys do, too. So trying to get 14 other guys to buy into your message, how you're saying it, get them to buy into what the coach is saying. It's tough because guys got dilemmas, guys got feelings.»

Becoming a leader is not easy, especially in a league full of egos like the NBA. Adebayo is learning how to fill his role as Captain while not letting it affect his performance on the court. At the end of the day everyone has to play basketball and contribute to the team in the best way they can. Adebayo is a leader, and well respected, as he continues to grow into being a true Captain, he needs to let his play on the court show he can lead by example.
