The Warriors Announce a Key Transaction
As the trade deadline passed without any moves from the Warriors, they are now focusing on solidifying their core and making a push for the playoffs. According to ESPN, the team is finalizing the conversion of two-way guard Lester Quinones to a standard NBA contract, as confirmed by his agents Mike Miller and Derek Malloy of Lift Sports Management on Tuesday.
Sources indicate that the agreement is anticipated to be signed on Thursday. This transition to a standard contract for the remainder of the NBA season provides both parties with an opportunity to discuss a new multiyear agreement during the offseason.
At 23 years old, Quinones has earned his spot in the Warriors' rotation, demonstrating offensive prowess with notable performances of 10, 17, and 13 points in February.
Quinones, who went undrafted from Memphis in 2022, has had stints with both the Warriors and their G League affiliate in Santa Cruz over two seasons. In 2023, he earned the title of the league's Most Improved Player.
