Matt Barnes reveals how Kobe Bryant used to pay his fines for him

Kobe Bryant is a player with a ton of mystique, and in a story from Matt Barnes, it was revealed that the NBA legend used to pay the fines racked up by all of his teammates.

While appearing on Paul George's podcast, Podcast P, Matt Barnes recounted the story of how he found out Kobe Bryant was paying for all of his misdeeds. As many fans already know, Barnes was a tough player, and he oftentimes found himself in rough situations. Kobe appreciated it, and he showed that appreciation with his pockets.

"Because I knew what my role was. So a lot of the times the s*** would go down. It wasn't because people were f****** me. It was because people were f****** with CP, Blake, Kobe, the guys that I played for. And I never claimed to be the toughest, but if we're going to war as a team, I'm going to be on the front line with you. I'll probably even throw the first punch if I really know you're going to take care of the fine.So yeah, Kobe was the only one that stepped to the plate, even though probably 400 of that was for taking up for teammates. Kobe was my dog, though. That's why I say, Kobe was my dog for real."

It's a pretty incredible story, and it just goes to show how much of a legend Kobe was. After his passing in 2020, numerous stories like these have been recounted. At this point, it seems very clear that few guys in the league actually have negative stories about him.
