After 3 months away, Gabe Vincent may return to the court Sunday
The Lakers face injuries among starters, sidelining LeBron James for today's game against the Milwaukee Bucks. However, point guard Gabe Vincent could soon bolster the team. Vincent, who underwent knee surgery in December, is nearing his anticipated return, likely during the Lakers' ongoing six-game road trip.
Vincent's last game was on December 20th, marking his return to the Lakers lineup after a 23-game absence due to left knee soreness. He played 14 minutes off the bench before undergoing surgery on the same knee. Now nearing a comeback, Vincent has been rehabilitating since then. Despite signing a three-year, $33 million deal last summer, he has only played five games for the Lakers so far.Dave McMenamin reported on X that, "Gabe Vincent is not with the Lakers in Milwaukee, according to the team. If Vincent continues to progress in his rehab, he could join L.A. at some point in this six-game road trip."
In his recovery journey, Vincent has been steadily advancing, recently engaging in practice drills without any contact involved. The surgical intervention he underwent might have addressed the knee problem that had been bothering him.
The Lakers' objective is to steer clear of the play-in tournament, although their path to success remains uncertain. Winning all their remaining games is crucial for them to secure a playoff berth. The return of Vincent could substantially enhance their chances, both in the play-in tournament and beyond.
