Donovan Mitchell reveals mindset amid return from injury

Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers lost badly to the Phoenix Suns last night, 122-101, however, he is still in the midst of returning from injury.

According to NBA Stats, Mitchell was able to come through with 24 points against the Suns. Overall, these are pretty respectable stats when you consider how he is still in the midst of returning from an injury. After the game, according to Clutch Points, Mitchell revealed his mindset as he makes his way back from the injury.

«I'm trying to be easier on myself. That's the biggest thing. Have to be patient with these things. Not going to just come out and be what I was. It's going to take time to build that and that's what this is for and that's why I'm playing these games — to get back and get these reps. I want to be perfect for the group. I'm continuing to build so when we get to the playoffs, I'm ready to go.»
He went on to note that it will take a bit longer to be at 100 percent. He is still trying to get his confidence back. However, he has belief in himself, and he knows that the team will be fine once he gets back into the full swing of things.
"Starting to feel more and more like myself. It's not just going to happen overnight for me. As much as it sucks, I have to be patient. I was happy with how I came out in the second half and how I felt. Continue building on that. It wasn't perfect, obviously. But we're at our best when I'm aggressive and continuing to get downhill. I saw it in spurts. Just trying to get back into my flow.»
