Mitch Kupchak is stepping down from his position as president of basketball operations for the Charlotte Hornets.

His departure follows the recent trade deadline. He played a pivotal role in the deal involving Gordon Hayward and PJ Washington, alongside the earlier trade of Terry Rozier in January.

Kupchak will transition back to a more advisory role within the organization. Consequently, the Hornets will begin the search for a new president of basketball operations.

Various candidates are under consideration for the role, such as Trajan Langdon of the New Orleans Pelicans, Jeff Peterson, an assistant GM with the Brooklyn Nets, Mike Gansey representing the Cleveland Cavaliers, Elton Brand from the Philadelphia 76ers, and other potential contenders.
