Breaking: Hornets' Miles Bridges Issued Arrest warrant again
An arrest warrant is out for Miles Bridges, a forward with the Charlotte Hornets. This warrant is tied to a previous domestic violence case but is not about new physical violence allegations. Instead, it involves the violation of a protective order, as stated by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and the county clerk of court.
Bridges' Legal Woes Unfold
This arrest warrant dates back to January but has remained unserved. Consequently, Channel 9 has been unable to access its details. Complicating matters, the 25-year-old Bridges is still on probation for a felony charge related to child endangerment from the previous year.
Additionally, a criminal summons has been issued for Bridges, which was made public recently. However, the details of this summons remain undisclosed. As a result, we do not possess a copy.
The Incident
The corresponding police report reveals that the victim's windshield was damaged, and her protective order was violated by Bridges. This incident occurred at the victim's residence, who happens to be Bridges' long-time girlfriend. The two share several children and are currently engaged in a custody battle.
Notably, Bridges' girlfriend has previously defended him, asserting that he is not an abuser.
Bridges' Legal Past
In November 2022, Bridges pleaded no contest to the aforementioned charge, stemming from allegations of assaulting the mother of his children in their presence. He received a three-year probation sentence and must adhere to a 10-year criminal protective order, undergo weekly narcotics and marijuana testing, and provide restitution to the victim, as mandated by the district attorney's office.
Bridges' Response
Three months ago, Bridges offered an apology for the "pain and embarrassment" stemming from the investigation, which led to his absence from the league last season. He also inked a one-year, $7.9 million contract with the Hornets, pledging to rebuild relationships with teammates and be more active in the Charlotte community.
NBA Suspension
The NBA imposed a 10-game suspension on Bridges, officially serving 30 games, of which 20 were completed by sitting out last season. Furthermore, he will not participate in the preseason.
Bridges' Performance
In his previous stint with the Hornets, Bridges excelled with career highs of 20.2 points and seven rebounds, marking a breakout season for the four-year NBA veteran, as he played alongside All-Star point guard LaMelo Ball.
