New Sleeper Team Emerges in Dejounte Murray Trade Talks

One of the most talked about trade pieces this year is Dejounte Murray. The Trade deadline is this afternoon, meaning moves could come fast and furious today. Among the rumors a third sleeper team has emerged in Dejounte Murray talks, the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Lakers have been long rumored to be pursuing Murray hard, however the recent fantastic play of Deangelo Russell has made those talks slow down significantly. NBA insider Chris Haynes has reported the Pelicans are making offers for Murray now.


The Pelicans have Dyson Daniels and Jose Alvarado currently sharing the backup role behind CJ McCollum however adding a star like Murray would significantly improve the Pelicans roster overall. Adding a star like Murray to a roster that already includes Zion Williamson, CJ McCollum, and Brandon Ingram would vault the Pelicans to being a force in the west.


The Pelicans currently sit in 7th in the West but only a half game out of 5th and guaranteed spot in the playoffs. Murray could definitely push them over the hump in the West!
