It's confirmed for Dejounte Murray
Amidst their challenges in the Eastern Conference, the Atlanta Hawks have reportedly made the decision to maintain Dejounte Murray in their backcourt, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
This choice follows Murray's links to trade talks involving the Los Angeles Lakers and other teams. Acquired from the San Antonio Spurs in June 2022, the Hawks invested significantly, parting with first-round draft picks and a pick swap to secure Murray.
The move aimed to fortify Trae Young's support while bolstering defensive and rebounding efforts. Notably, Murray has demonstrated consistent scoring, rebounding, and defensive prowess since joining the Hawks, averaging 20.5 points, 6.1 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game in his first season. Recognizing his contributions, the Hawks rewarded Murray with a lucrative four-year, $120 million extension through the 2027-28 campaign. Despite the team's current struggles with a 22-29 record, Murray's individual performance remains strong, boasting averages of 21.4 points, 5.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per game this season.
