Miami Heat Finally get's Their Star in Trade Proposal

After months of speculation, the Milwaukee Bucks traded for Damian Lillard, putting to bed all rumors of the former Trailblazer joining the Heat as he publicly wished. However, a new trade proposal sends a different star to Miami as they look to repeat last season's trip to the NBA Finals.

This new trade proposal sends Pascal Siakam from the Raptors to the Heat in exchange for G Tyler Herro, G/F Jaime Jaquez Jr., F Nikola Jovic, 2027 First-Round Pick (MIA), and 2029 First-Round Pick (MIA).

Since winning the championship in 2019, the Raptors have only won a single playoff series and have actually missed the playoffs in 2 of the last seasons, including last year when they finished 9th and lost to the Bulls in the play-in tournament. This, coupled with the fact that they lost starting point guard Fred VanVleet in free agency this summer, means Toronto may be looking to begin a rebuild, cashing in on Siakam's value after making the All-Star game last year.

As for Miami, they stunned everybody last year by making an NBA Finals run from the 8th seed and look to acquire a star to help replicate their success this season. They are the first team to make the NBA Finals from the 8th seed this millennium, and nobody will be taking them lightly come next playoffs. They lost many crucial role players in free agency, such as Gabe Vincent and Max Strus, and Siakam, who ranked top 30 for points (24.2), rebounds (7.8), and assists (5.8), could help replace their production.

Battle For the Eastern Conference

On paper, the Heat desperately need this trade to help them compete this season, as the Celtics and Bucks have both seemingly upgraded significantly and will be far tougher opponents for Miami this time around.

The Bucks, who already have a chip on their shoulder after losing in the first round as the top seed, look stronger than ever after the Lillard trade and will be seeking vengeance against the league, with Miami specifically targeted following last year's upset.

The Celtics have also made significant adjustments, trading for Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, adding two new highly talented starters to their already competent roster that went 7 games with the Heat in last year's Eastern Conference Finals.

On top of these two powerhouses, the 76ers may still be a threat. They have the reigning MVP, Joel Embiid, for starters, and depending on how the Harden trade drama settles, they could potentially look even stronger come playoff time.

Additionally, they have two young cores in Cleveland and New York, both seemingly moments away from becoming legitimate contenders. With the Eastern Conference as deep as it is, Miami desperately needs this trade to remain competitive.
