Hornets Star Trolled Following a Trade Request

With the preseason underway, we are just around the corner from the upcoming NBA season. However, teams are still making roster adjustments and moving players around in an effort to improve upon last season. One team that may still be looking to make trades is the Charlotte Hornets, after Forward/Center Kai Jones publicly requested a trade on X/Twitter.

Since being drafted 19th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, Kai has played solely for the Hornets and their G-League affiliate team, the Greensboro Swarm. Last season, Kai played 46 games for the Hornets and averaged 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 12 minutes per game. You can watch his best dunk highlights in the NBA below.




Kai Gets Trolled

We are used to seeing star players request trades in the modern NBA, with examples like Damian Lillard and James Harden just this past offseason alone. However, we do not normally see role players making this much noise due to the financial implications. The rules state that players can receive fines of up to $150,000 and/or suspensions for making trade requests public, as proven when the NBA fined Harden earlier this summer.

Due to the unusual circumstances, fans have been mocking Kai Jones and posting troll comments about the whole situation. Even current NBA veteran Terrence Ross has joined in on the trolling, with an Instagram exchange shared between the two.
