Surprising Comments from Kevin Garnett about Anthony Edwards
Kevin Garnett passionately compares Anthony Edwards to a young Michael Jordan.
"He's like a young '84 Jordan, boy. You hear me? If [forward Karl-Anthony Towns] weren't on his team, he'd be averaging 30-something points per game. You hear what I'm saying to you?"
Garnett asserted.
Few would dispute that Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, a two-time All-Star at just 22, ranks among the NBA's elite young talents. Under his leadership, the Timberwolves have achieved an impressive 36–16 record, following consecutive first-round playoff appearances. Yet, Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett, who achieved All-Star status twice by age 22 during his tenure with Minnesota, took it a step further. During a star-studded All the Smoke Productions YouTube trade deadline special, Garnett likened Edwards's early career trajectory to that of Hall of Famer Michael Jordan.
Edwards is currently scoring 25.9 points per game, marking a career best. Comparatively, Jordan averaged 28.2 points per game during his rookie season in 1985. When Paul Pierce, a Hall of Fame forward and former teammate of Garnett's with the Boston Celtics, expressed skepticism, Garnett quickly dismissed it.
"You ain't watching the games! I'm watching the games! Get your s— together, man! Get it together!"
He exclaimed loudly as the panel burst into laughter.
