Klay Thompson will forever be known as part of the Warriors Dynasty of the 2010s and early 2020s. Him along with Steph Curry and Draymond Green, formed the big three that carried the Warriors to multiple titles. But recent trade rumors have speculated his time with the Warriors could be coming to an end after this season.
Klay recently went on record to address how he feels about the entire situation, even suggesting he would be okay with a reduced role to stay with the team:«There's nothing wrong with that. I'll be 35 next year. At 35, coming off the ACL and an Achilles [tear] and still have the ability to be a really good player. Maybe not the guy who scored 60 in three quarters and scored an NBA record 37 points in a quarter, but still a great threat out there. I've modeled my game after Reggie [Miller] and Ray [Allen], and those guys were incredibly effective until their late 30s. So, I plan on kind of following that mold.»
Klay does have a point that as he gets older and is coming off two recent major injuries, he has not played at the high level that he has expected of himself preinjury. It goes to show the love he has for the Warrior organization and fanbase that a superstar goes on record and says he would be okay with a reduced role just to stay with the team. Klay is still averaging 16.9 points per game this season, but this is far under his career average.
While he may not be the sharpshooting threat he used to be, Klay Thompson is still a valuable player who is willing to swallow his pride to stay with the team he has had so much success with.
