Will Andrew Wiggins Miss Home Games Because of the COVID Vaccine?

The city of San Francisco requires full vaccination against the coronavirus for anyone attempting to be indoors for entertainment reasons. A game of basketball is very much an "entertainment reason" which means that all fans, players, and staff need to be fully vaccinated.

That could pose a problem for the Golden State Warriors. Their player Andrew Wiggins is apparently refusing to get the COVID vaccine and has no plans to change his mind. That means he may have to miss any home game in the Bay Area once the season starts.

Some sources think that the NBA will grant Wiggins a religious exemption for his anti-vaccine stance but that remains to be seen.

If Wiggins did miss home games, he would be forfeiting more than $350,000 for each game he is forced to miss.

For their part, the team has tried to change Wiggins's mind. They recently matched him up with an Oakland doctor "who understands issues surrounding vaccine hesitancy." Yet, the conversations with that doctor didn't lead anywhere and Wiggins is still firmly against getting vaccinated.
