The Brooklyn Nets Just Lost an Assistant Coach
In a surprising move, Mike D'Antoni has stepped down from his assistant coach position for the Brooklyn Nets right before the NBA Draft and free agency.
Before his assistant coach gig in Brooklyn, D'Antoni was head coach for the Suns, Rockets, Knicks, and Lakers. He also had a short stint at the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. He was the NBA Coach of the Year in both 2005 and 2017.
So why is he "pursuing head coaching jobs" if there are currently none available in the NBA? It sounds like the grind of helping out in Brooklyn was a bit too much for D'Antoni.
D'Antoni obviously wants to take a break before he finds a head coach position that feels right for him. There is no doubt that we will see him again in the near future.
