Just a few years ago, Steve Kerr and his Golden State Warriors squad were untouchable and undeniably the best team in the NBA.

Last season, they didn't even make the playoffs.

There are many reasons for the team's collapse, namely injuries to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. However, the Warriors are poised to make a big comeback this season, with those two suiting up once again and ready to take back the crown.

But don't get too excited just yet, Warriors fans. Kerr admits that the Warriors are in a much better place than they were but there is still a long road ahead for them. While speaking with NBC Sports, Kerr said:

«It's really hard to gauge where we are against the rest of the Western Conference. Obviously there's a lot of great teams. We haven't even had a practice to put the group together. But I'm very excited about the potential.

It feels to me like we're gonna be back in a situation where we can compete on a nightly basis, and just knowing that is exciting. But we've got a lot of work ahead to prove that.»

Kerr's not wrong: the Warriors are going to be able to compete but they are still going to struggle at times and probably won't be the force they once were. Yet, there is potential for a great year ahead and they could bounce back stronger than some people expect. He's tempering expectations, that's smart. At the end of the day, no one should write off the Warriors this season.
