Spurs Have Reportedly Made Two Star Players Available For Trade
The San Antonio Spurs finished the season in the 10th seed, exiting the playoff picture with a mid-May loss to the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in tournament. Posting a near-identical record to the 2019-2020 season, it appears that that the Spurs may be looking to move in a different direction with their rebuild.
Sources have made it known to Zach Harper that Murray and White, two of the Spurs' more promising young players have been made available for trade. Murray and White, both PGs, have shown immense potential in the last two years, and this move may be to clear space for one of them to become the franchise's full-time starting point guard.
As the NBA approaches some of its most talent-balanced seasons in recent memory, rebuilding teams have more incentive to make win-now moves in order to take advantage of the current climate in the league. The Spurs have developed a solid young core and might be ready to make a push for their first winning record in the last three years by moving ageing star DeMar DeRozan and one of Murray/White.
