Shaq making his case for Lebron to sign with another Western Conference powerhouse!
A former teammate of LeBron James in Cleveland, Shaquille O'Neal has always closely followed the career of the Chosen One. When the forward entered the market in the summer of 2018, the Hall of Famer notably advised him to join a specific franchise, but James didn't listen.
In total, LeBron James has accumulated no less than four championship titles in his career. The latest of these was achieved with the Lakers in 2020, which remains the only good season for the Purple and Gold since the forward signed with them in 2018. Aside from that, there have been two playoff absences and a first-round exit in 2021, while we wait to see what Darvin Ham's squad will do this season...Despite the trophy won in the Orlando bubble, many believe that it was a mistake for the King to join the City of Angels. This is even more frustrating considering he was a free agent at the time, having left the Cavs after his second stint there between 2014 and 2018. All options were open to him, not just the franchise with 17 championship banners...
On that note, all basketball observers had given their opinions on LBJ's next destination at that time, including his former teammate Shaquille O'Neal. The former center had indeed caught attention with his preferred scenario, which he shared on ESPN's set. According to the Hall of Famer, Bron should have done everything to go to California, indeed, but not Los Angeles!
"If I were him, I would go to Golden State. (...) I'm not joking. First of all, he's getting older, he's already on the decline. He has what, three rings? He's at three wins and five losses in the Finals. If he goes to Golden State, he'll win another three rings."
Joining the team that had beaten him in the playoffs three times in four years, each time in the Finals? Strangely, it reminds us of the controversy surrounding Kevin Durant's arrival in the Bay Area...
However, it's a fact: a signing of L-Train in San Francisco would have had an unprecedented impact on the league's history. He would have joined a starting five comprised of KD, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. In a scenario where everything went well, this team could have indeed dominated the competition for years...
On top of that, we would have loved to see the former Heat player team up with the Chef, and we're not the only ones, as the Chosen One himself admitted a few months ago that he had dreamt of it. Apparently, it will never happen, but we could have witnessed it if he had agreed to join the Dubs. However, it's uncertain whether the Cleveland fanbase would have forgiven him for this affront, which would have been even worse than The Decision in 2010.
