Oscar Robertson Claims Russell Westbrook Should've Won 2021 NBA MVP

Russell Westbrook and Oscar Robertson are the top two leaders for triple-doubles in NBA history. Westbrook past Robertson for most triple-double in NBA history last May.


Recently, the NBA legend made a statement that will raise the eye brows of many NBA fans. Robertson claimed that Westbrook should've won the 2021 NBA MVP after averaging another triple-double for the whole season.

«They didn't notice, they didn't think it was such a big dealI think that's totally unfair. I think he should have won it (MVP award) again," Robertson said of Russ in a recent episode of The Players' Tribune's Knuckleheads.


Nikola Jokic won the NBA MVP last season after leading the Denver Nuggets into a third place finish in the West despite losing Jamal Murray in the season. The Nuggets were swept by the Phoenix Suns in the second round of the playoffs.

Westbrook, meanwhile, helped the Wizards get the 8th seed in the East after having a bad start in the regular season. They're eliminated by the Philadelphia 76ers in just five games in the first round of the playoffs.

Well, if Robertson point was about stats, Steph Curry led the league in scoring and averaged 32 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 48/42/92 shooting splits.

The late great Kobe Bryant could've won two more NBA MVP's if were going to base on stats only but Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns have better record that the LA Lakers during Nash MVP years.
