One Former Scoring Champion Could be Headed to Golden State

Make no mistake: the Golden State Warriors are going to be back in a big way next season. While the last couple of years have been rough for the former champs, things are about to look a lot better for them. For one, Steph Curry is doing his usual incredible work. Secondly, Klay Thompson is looking to suit back up after a devastating injury. And now comes word that the Dubs might sign one of the most celebrated and distinguished players in the league.

Speaking to the Locked on Warriors podcast, host Bram Hillsman said that the Warriors might aim to sign Trail Blazer Carmelo Anthony in the offseason. If they did indeed land Carmelo, the Warriors would become even more impressive offensively. Anthony has been back in tip-top shape while playing for Portland; the guy can still deliver some killer threes.

One of the reasons why Melo could end up in the Bay Area is because he is seeing his contemporaries, including Chris Paul, make it all the way to the Finals while he is still with teams getting taken out in the first round of the playoffs. That is a hard reality to sit with and Carmelo wants to be on a squad who can actually win a ring.

In a discussion on the Locked on Warriors podcast, Bram Hillsman of Warriors Huddle speculated that Golden State could make a run at Carmelo Anthony this offseason. Hillsman said it must be difficult on Anthony to see friend Chris Paul finally reaching the NBA Finals, a stage that Anthony has never seen in his own career, and a move to Golden State could help him finally get a ring.

Carmelo playing with Steph, Klay, and Draymond Green would be downright terrifying for other teams. If this deal goes through, all other Western Conference teams should be shaking in their sneakers.
