New York Knicks Could Land Their New Starting Point Guard
Lonzo Ball was once looked at as an NBA star who wasn't living up to his potential. However, the New Orleans Pelicans star player is now doing quite well for himself, with an average of 14.6 points a game, 4.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 3.1 3-pointers. The guy is performing much better, although it's still not enough for the Pels to make it into the post-season.
It's no surprise that other teams are keeping their eyes on Ball and thinking of signing him. And one of the teams who has been pondering a Ball trade is the New York Knicks. For months now, the Knicks have been a team that has supposedly been in the Ball lottery. According to Yahoo, there is a good chance they land Ball because he fits the current approach to the team, which doesn't favor a ball-dominant guard over letting Julius Randle and RJ Barrett run the offense. In fact, Yahoo says that the Knicks and Pelicans spoke about a Ball trade last season and nothing happened:
The Knicks spoke to New Orleans about a potential Ball trade prior to the deadline but nothing materialized. One source with knowledge of the dynamic at the deadline expected the Knicks to pursue Ball again in the offseason.
Ball to New York would definitely be one of the most exciting and promising moves of the NBA offseason. The Knicks are this close to being a team that can make the Finals, it feels like they are missing one piece. Could Lonzo Ball be it?
