NBA made some important changes in the G League this season for the Overtime. It will not be timed but it will be a race to seven points only.

The target score in overtime instead of a timed session is amoung the most significant changes the NBA is doing this season.

The G League set seven points as the overtime target because it wanted to ensure the extra period lasts longer than two possessions.

The target score is becoming very popular in the NBA has also done in at its last three All-Star Games. Whichever team was leading after three quarters, plus 24 points, in a nod to one of Kobe Bryant's jersey numbers—was set for an untimed fourth quarter.

Maybe we will see a target score in the NBA regular season overtime soon depending on how the fans react to this change in the G League.
