NBA Trainer takes a deep dive on Evan Mobley, compares him to a hybrid of KG and Giannis.
Evan Mobley was selected 3rd overall in the 2021 draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. They added him to one of the best young cores in the league that includes Garland and Sexton.
He is arguably the most exciting/talented big-man prospect since Anthony Davis in 2012, Towns in 2015 Has an AD type of ceiling with his two-way ability and overall skill set. While the value of bigmen have been downgraded in today's NBA, the versatile well rounded bigs like Embiid, Jokic and AD retain immense value. If Mobley can develop into one of these types, he can justify a very high pick.
His NBA trainer was talking to Sideline Sources and spoke highly of the 2nd year sophomore.
Evan is such a special talent,» Olin Simplis explains. «We want to make sure we exhaust all of his tremendous potential. With that being said, we prioritized this off-season to improve on three things. Firstly, his perimeter shooting — especially the three-ball. Secondly, Getting downhill with his second dribble and either elevating over the defender in the midrange or turning the downhill drive into a post-action. Thirdly, finally working back to the basket — having strong one-two go-to actions and counters off of that.
His next step is being in the conversations with the best bigs in the league. I see Evan as a hybrid between a Giannis and KG. The way Giannis takes the ball off the rim and puts pressure on the opposing team with the push and his playmaking abilities. KG's back-to-the-basket turn-around actions. Just keep refining his overall game! The kid has a chance to be special.

Thats a pretty big standard to be compared to KG and Giannis. These are arguably the 2 best and most dominant big men in NBA history. Mobley has some work to do to compete with these players.
