LeBron James' Former Teammate Wants a Shot at Lakers' Roster Spot
Following a report today by Marc Stein regarding the Lakers' search for a playmaking guard, former NBA champion Mario Chalmers took to Twitter to put himself forward for the position.
Chalmers, who last played for the Grizzlies in the 2017-2018 season, has been largely unheard of since his quiet exit from the league. Now 35, Chalmers appears to be ready to try and make a comeback. Given his level of play during his last few seasons, it doesn't seem likely that the Lakers will pay any attention to the guard's request unless LeBron James decides that he wants a reunion with his former teammate.
Even if the Lakers were to consider Chalmers for a position, he would likely be signed as a veteran presence with next to no chance of receiving playing time. Whether or not Chalmers' tweet is serious, it's definitely drummed up enough attention for the Lakers' front office to hear about it.
