James just surpassed a huge milestone. He's the first NBA player to become a billionaire while still active. James has joined the exclusive club that also features Jay-Z, Elon Musk, and Bill Gates because of his career earnings along with endorsements over the years. There have been other billionaires from the NBA - Michael Jordan being the most famous - but none of them have achieved that milestone while still being an active player.
According to Yahoo, James has earned $330 million with his NBA contracts and another $700 off the court because of deals with Sprite, AT&T, Beats, Nike, Walmart, and more. LeBron earns more than $100 million annually according to the report.
Currently, his biggest financial competition within the NBA is Kevin Durant ($580 million in career earnings) and Steph Curry ($430 million). Only Floyd Mayweather, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Roger Federer, and Tiger Woods are the other athletes to earn a billion while active.
