Joel Embiid Signs Massive Deal with the Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid is making money.

The star NBA player just signed a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, keeping him with the team through 2026-2027.

According to Ramona Shelburne, Embiid just signed a four-year, $196 million supermax contract extension.




This comes as no surprise since Embiid is easily the best player on the 76ers. This is a sign that the team is doubling down on Embiid and knows its future rests on him.

Embiid just finished the best season of his career and was runner-up for MVP but ultimately lost out to Nikola Jokic. He averaged 28.5 points a game and improved his game in nearly every way. Retaining him was obviously the biggest priority for Philadelphia.

Philly still has some moves to make in this offseason, as rumors state that the troubled Ben Simmons is expected to be shipped elsewhere. It remains to be seen who the 76ers can get in exchange for him.
