The Miami Heat have re-signed All-NBA guard Jimmy Butler to a four-year, $186.5 million extension.

The team took to Twitter to officially announce the big news, which many saw as inevitable.

Butler himself also released a statement, saying "This is the place for me It's a blessing to be able to represent this organization, to play alongside these guys and for Coach Spo and Coach Pat."

Currently, Butler is playing on a contract from his previous deal with the Heat. His new, huge extension will begin in the 2022-23 season. He will get $41.6 million in the first year of this new contract extension, followed by $44.9 million, $48.3 million, and $51.6 million in 2025-26.

This news caps a big week for the Heat, who just signed Kyle Lowry and PJ Tucker in free agency and were able to re-sign both Duncan Robinson and Victor Oladipo. Although their last season didn't end how they planned, there is hope that they are in much better shape next season. There is a chance they could once again return to the NBA Finals with this refreshed line-up.

Butler has been a team leader for Miami since he joined them back in 2019. He led them to the 2020 Finals where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers. Last season, multiple injuries impaired them and they got wiped out in the first round to the current champs, the Milwaukee Bucks.
