Jayson Tatum opens up about the NBA Finals
The year is 2019, the Boston Celtics are up 1-0 in the first round of the NBA playoffs vs the Milwaukee Bucks. They then lost 4 straight games and got eliminated and were sent home.
Jayson Tatum had a terrible series and really struggled vs the lengthy Milwaukee defence.
Then last year, it came together in such a whirlwind that Tatum is now the top scorer on the betting favorite for the 2023 title, a team that just brought in two established veterans in Gallinari and Brogdon.
In a recent interview with Jared Weiss of the Athletic, Tatum shared his thoughts on the 2 additions.
I mean, what kind of teammate would I be if I said no?» he said. «We got this close, and we added two really good players. I think it makes us better.
After making the first team all NBA, Tatum knows he still has a long way to go to become one of the all time greats. It all starts this year, Tatum explains
Yeah, not wait 'til January to be the best player. Have a better start,» Tatum said. «I think that just comes from making sure my body feels good from the jump and just dominating night in, night out. That's what the best of the best players do.
Its all a learning process for the 24 year old Missouri kid. He understands that as well ;
I learned) that I'm 24 and one of the best players in the world and that I will compete against whoever and take on that challenge,» Tatum said. «In that same breath, I feel like there's so much I could be better at, and I think that's the exciting part. That I'm at where I'm at, where there's so much more I can be, so much more I can learn and so many more experiences to go through.
The Boston Celtics are favoured to win the NBA championship this year, a crucial year is awaiting Tatum and his teammates.
