The Golden State Warriors had missed the playoffs for two straight seasons. They own the 7th and 14th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft but the Warriors are looking for an immediate upgrade to the roster.

Asked what the chances were of seeing keeping both picks this season, Warriors general manager Bob Myers answered.

«It depends,» «If that's the best thing to do, that's what we'll do.»

«But it depends. Some guys are older that can help you more and there are young guys, young guys that can help you. But then you weigh it against what you can do with those picks and I have no idea right now what we can do with 14 or seven or them together, and I'm sure we'll find out and make the best decision we can.»

«We're not trying to develop players at the risk of losing,» Myers said later. «We're not going to develop and have it cost us games. That's not the plan.»

The Golden State Warriors are used to making blockbuster moves, and according to one ESPN analyst, they may be pushing for Ben Simmons.

Stephen A Smith believes that Warriors will make a push for the 6'11 playmaker.

«I believe the Golden State Warriors are going to make a push for Ben Simmons. So stay tuned. It's possible Ben Simmons could end up in Golden State with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green,» Smith said on his popular ESPN show First Take.

Ben Simmons had a forgettable postseason performance this year. Many were thinking that the Sixers will trade him this summer. Perhaps Simmons need a change of scenery to revitalize his NBA career like what the Warriors did with Andrew Wiggins who turned out to be one of the best two way players this season.

In Golden State, Simmons won't need to score a lot as he can be facilitator to the team who will be having Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins as their first three options in scoring. His defense alone, with defensive enforcer Draymond Green, could really help the Warriors team that struggled making it to the playoffs the past two years.

Simmons will not join the Australia men's basketball team in Tokyo Olympics this summer and will focus on his individual development. Perhaps, he'll add a perimeter jumper and improve his free throw shooting.
