New Los Angeles Lakers forward Carmelo Anthony recently made a comment about chasing an NBA championship on his career.

«This is the one thing I'm missing. This is the one thing that keeps me up at night, that motivates me because I don't have it.»

His former coach at the Denver Nuggets, George Karl took time on Twitter to destroy him with his championship comments.

«And it kept our coaching staff up at night a decade ago when we were stressing the importance of team play and defense! (emoji)»

Karl emphasized Carmelo's the lack of defense and passing during his time with the Nuggets.

The two spent six seasons together in Denver until the Carmelo requested a trade that sent him to New York for multiple players and draft picks.

Karl and Anthony reached the playoffs all six season but were eliminated five times in the first round of the playoffs. Their best campaign together was in 2009 where the Nuggets reached the Western Conference Finals only to be swept by the eventual champion and Kobe Bryant-led Los Angeles Lakers.

Karl spent over 20 years as an NBA head coach with six different teams, including the Denver Nuggets from 2005-13.

Melo, meanwhile, spent eight years with the Nuggets and seven years with the Knicks. After that, he's been a journeyman in NBA having been with four NBA teams in a span of five years.

Melo now has a real chance of winning an NBA championship at his age of 37. With the likes of NBA superstars LeBron James Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis on his side, Melo might get his first NBA ring this season.
