Damian Lillard on Trade Rumors: There's A Lot Of Words Being Put In My Mouth...
The last few weeks have seen a lot of rumors about the Portland Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard wanting to head out of Rose City for a better, more competitive team. If the rumors are true, you can't really blame Dame. He has been giving it his all for a few years now and the team has failed to make it as far as they should - only reaching the Western Conference Finals (and losing) one time.
But those rumors you've been hearing? They haven't been coming from Lillard. The star player spoke with reporters during Team USA training in Las Vegas and made it clear that he won't be telling the press any concerns he has."Anything that I have to say, I'm going to say directly to [Blazers general manager] Neil [Olshey] and I'm going to address it directly with my team. There's really nothing else I have to say about it."
Lillard then added:
"There's a lot of things being said and sometimes words being put in my mouth, and I haven't said anything. If there is something to be said or if I think something or have something to say that I'm going to say it and I'm going to stand on it."
That isn't an exact denial that Lillard is unhappy, it's just a strong sign that he isn't saying anything about it. That statement gives some red meat to Blazers fans and those hoping he jumps ship. Between the lackluster postseason and the controversial signing of Chauncy Billups as head coach, Damian Lillard has plenty of reasons to be upset with Portland. Just because he isn't making his true feelings known doesn't mean he isn't looking to take his talents elsewhere.
